It's in the Books

The Williamston high school wrestling banquet held on Monday, March 13th officially ended the 2005-2006 wrestling season.

Honored at the wrestling banquet was Senior Brad Simmons who won the Division 3 State Championship at 135 pounds held at the Palace of Auburn Hills this past weekend.   Brad ended the season with a 40-1 record and over 160 wins in his high school career.  He won the League title (his 3rd league championship), District Champ, 2nd in Regional held at Brooklyn Columbia Central and culminated his high school career with the State Championship title.  Congratulations Brad for a job well done!

Also receiving special awards were Victor Theis (10th grader) as the Most Improved wrestler and Brad Simmons for winning the Most Team Points award.

Team captains for the 2005-2006 season were Cory Alchin, Jeff Kane and Brad Simmons.  Team members:  Jordan Anderson, Evan Burke, Kyle Jean, Todd Reinert, Ben Schlenke, Glen Sible, Casey Sible, Dan Shuck, Kurt Smith, Spencer Sprague, Victor Theis and Manager Aaron Risch.

Coach Weston, Coach Weber and Coach Mooney would like to thank the parents, the fans and the school for all their support during the 2005-2006 wrestling season.

Still Learning

In action this past week the Hornets grappled to a 5th place finish in a much improved Stockbridge Invitational.  Brad Simmons brought home the Gold and the Outstanding Wrestler Trophy at 140 pounds and Casey Sible was the Runner-up at 103.  Also placing for the Green were: Jeff Kane, Victor Theis, Cory Alchin, Glen Sible, Ben Schlanke, and Evan Burke.

On Wednesday the team traveled to the the Corunna Quad where they were downed by Yale and Croswell-Lexington.  The scores are here.

Saturday we wrestle in the ultra tough Howell Invitational, whistles at 9:00am, see you there!

A Great Start

The Hornets swarmed into Breckenridge and buzzed away with 2 victories on Wednesday night.  First they downed Clare 54-15 and then they dispatched hosts Breckenridge 41-27.  Click here for the box scores.  Saturday the team visits Stockbridge with whistles at 9:30am.  See you there!

Hornets' Hit the Mat on Wednesday

Well it's that time of year again and the Williamston Wrestlers open their season on Wednesday at Breckenridge (Map). Wrestling starts at 6:30pm, then Saturday we are at the Stockbridge Invitational (Map). Hope to see you there!
